Successful lecture at the HTW Berlin in the winter semester 2024/25

The University of Applied Sciences for Technology and Business Berlin (HTW) has increased the teaching assignment of Frank-Holm Rögner in Department 5 “Design and Culture” for the Master's program “Conservation and Restoration” from 0.5 SWH (semester week hour) to 1 SWH after a successful first run in the winter semester 2023/24. From now on, Mr. Rögner will offer the lecture “Cleaning Principles and Technologies for Surface Treatment and Conservation” every winter semester.

Additionally, as part of this lecture on 23 January 2025, he organized an excursion for the students to the Fraunhofer FEP to complement the theoretical content with practical experience of cleaning processes on their own historical objects. “This practical module provides HTW Berlin students with direct insight into highly advanced industrial cleaning processes and innovative technologies. It is crucial that students not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also develop practical skills that prepare them for their professional future,” emphasizes Frank-Holm Rögner.

Eleven female students participated in the excursion to the “LinTR” learning lab at the Fraunhofer FEP. They traveled to Dresden on January 23 and completed the internship with flying colors. The feedback was overwhelming: “10 out of 10 points!” - for both the organization and the content.

We are convinced that the students, under the guidance of Frank-Holm Rögner, were able to acquire valuable knowledge about modern cleaning methods, which optimally prepares them for their professional careers. We are very pleased with the teaching assignment of Frank-Holm Rögner and are confident that HTW Berlin has gained an experienced expert who will impart to the students with in-depth knowledge about modern cleaning methods in the sensitive context of historical objects.
