The Joseph von Fraunhofer Prize of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is awarded every two years for research and development services that have made a significant contribution to improving people's quality of life and maintaining their performance in daily life and into old age.
This year, Fraunhofer IZI, as well as our member institutes Fraunhofer FEP and Fraunhofer IPA, were honored with the Joseph von Fraunhofer Prize for a new production method for inactivating pathogens within a few seconds using accelerated electrons.
By this, vaccines can be produced faster, more efficient and more environmentally friendly than with the conventional production process.
